About Me

My name is Isaac Johnson, and I’m a Minnesotan who enjoys designing and fabricating useful things. In high school I was the CAD/CAM lead of my local robotics team, where I learned how to use many shop tools as well as digital design and manufacturing software. These include my primary CAD program Onshape, my secondary CAD program/ primary CAM program Autodesk Fusion, and CNC router control software Mach3. The two main tools I use for fabricating projects various 3D-printers and a CNC router.

Much of what I’ve learned about drawing designs, choosing materials, machining, and more has been through self-teaching and experimentation, although to learn more I will be attending UW-Madison in the fall for Mechanical Engineering.

Skills:

Using CAD for design with consideration to assembly and manufacturing methods

3D-Printing using various filaments to their strengths

Programing toolpaths for milling aluminum, plastics, wood on various CNC router machines

Iteration across thoughtful prototypes

Basic MIG, Stick welding and brazing

Using CAD features in Onshape, Fusion; Using CAM features in Fusion
